Capsl ("Capsl," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services. Please read this policy carefully. By using Capsl, you consent to the practices described herein.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly and information that is collected automatically:
- Account Information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this to create and manage your account.
- User Content: Photos and videos you add to capsules, capsule themes, host messages, and any text you contribute. This content is stored to provide the capsule experience.
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the app, such as capsule views and feature usage, to improve our services.
- Purchase Information: If you subscribe to premium features, purchase data is processed by our payment provider (RevenueCat) to fulfill your subscription. We do not store payment card details.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version for compatibility and support.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Capsl service
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Store and display capsule content to you and invited contributors
- Process premium subscriptions and restore purchases
- Send push notifications (e.g., capsule reveal reminders) when you opt in
- Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud). Media files are stored in Firebase Storage and capsule metadata in Firestore. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may collect or process your data:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and cloud storage. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In: For account creation and authentication.
- Apple Sign-In: For account creation and authentication on iOS.
- RevenueCat: For in-app subscription management. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only: (1) with contributors to a capsule you create or are invited to; (2) with service providers who assist us in operating our services under strict confidentiality; (3) when required by law or to protect our rights; or (4) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data. You can delete your account and associated data from within the app (Profile settings).
- Opt-out: Disable push notifications in your device settings.
For account deletion, use the delete account option in the Capsl app. We will process your request within a reasonable timeframe as required by Apple and Google.
Children's Privacy
Capsl is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
International Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in compliance with applicable laws.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Capsl after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
